"From Principal's Desk...."

Skill Education has become a buzzword in Higher Education scenario today. Higher Education is on the threshold of being revamped towards Skill Development programmes and courses.

With the implementation of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 and a paradigm shift in the focus and policy of the regulatory authorities like HRD ministry and UGC, it is beyond any doubt that Higher Education is all set to go beyond the traditional patterns in terms of curriculum as well as teaching methodology.

Skill education has become the need of the time for the revitalization and for enhancing the Relevance of higher education Our college took first step in skill-based career-oriented courses in 2010 with the establishment of self-funded Aishwarya Centre for Skill Orientated Courses. It has now transformed into the School of Skill Development offering diploma, advanced diploma and degree programmers in Beauty Therapy and Fashion Design, besides few other short term Career Oriented Courses. Besides this, School of Design and Art and Centre for Mass Media and Foreign Languages have also been established on the campus to provide professional education and training to the students. I believe that such facilities are absolutely indispensible for grooming the personality as well as the employability potential of the youth.

Through skill development programmes we endeavor to hone the entrepreneurial skills and abilities of our students to make them economically self-reliant. It is our humble effort to change the mindset of the student from ‘job-seekers’ to ‘job-providers’. To nurture critical, analytical and innovative thinking for holistic development of students, the college encourages students to participate in co- curricular and extra-curricular activities and schemes like NSS, NCC, Sports, Dramatics, Debating, Elocution, Study Tours, Field Visits, Youth Festival, Avishkar, Open House as well as other Socio-cultural programmes and activities. Workshops and programmes are also organized to inculcate Life Skills and the digitalized Language Laboratory has been set up to develop Communication Skill among students.

Activities like Vacha Charitra / Atmacharitra Ek Tati’,‘Ruchira’, ‘Swayam Siddha’ are meant for confidence building and self-reliance among students. State-of-the-art gymnasium caters to physical fitness of students as well as developing sportsmanship among the students. The college has been honored with ‘Best Women’s College in Sports’ award by NMU 09 times.

A dedicated Competitive Exams Guidance Centre prepares students for the challenging field of Indian Civil Services and other competitive exams. E-learning Centre, UGC Network Centre, classrooms with LCD Projectors are meant for ICT orientation of the faculty as well as the students. The infrastructure and academic set-up, and the overall ambience on the campus are conducive to fostering ‘glocal’ competencies and to ignite the latent potentials of the students. The college is making every possible effort to keep pace with the changes in Higher Education and capitalize on the challenges and opportunities ahead. ‘A Grade’ in NAAC re-accreditation and ISO 9001: 2015 certification of the college bears ample testimony to the quality-oriented approach and culture of the college.
